Lighten, Seeing

Light cannot be touched yet exists
Since it cannot be possessed
We try to catch it with cameras, words, pens, colours...
To keep a moment of light and shadow
Create an untouchable perfect space

Expressing desire advertising LightBox
Written wishes flying lantern
Full of beautiful fairy tale moon and sun
Create a light bulb brighten the future
Desire, Hope, Imagination, a Dream

Exploring the link between light and dream as a main idea "Lighten, Seeing", I used the this relationship to represent the dream of man living as part of nature that exists in Taiwan. The project combines real scenery with imagination provided through the light turning on and off. As for the image, I tried to present a blur between reality and dream in an ambiguous distance by manipulating the conflict between reality and fantasy. I used the fluid and translucent qualities of the brown paper to present a vivid picture of natural scenery; this, contrasted with the use of pencil, light but clear, represents the feeling of reality existing within a dream. The lightness of the brown paper and the heaviness of the frame make the virtual illusion solid, real. "Lighten, Seeing" is a project that seeks to discover another world between light and dark.

So...

Turn on the light
And let's dream a beautiful dream
