郭芃君 出生於1985年的郭芃君，在台北成長的十八年歲月伴隨著對於藝術的學習與夢想，高中畢業後即到倫敦中央聖馬丁藝術學院攻讀視覺藝術，直到2007年回到台灣，而後於台南成立工作室，對於台南有著特殊的情感，並依戀於台南給予她的靈感，這個慢步調的古都深深吸引著郭芃君，孕育出其特殊而貼近文化的思維與創作。郭芃君在英國倫敦求學期間，有感於文化上的差異，另加一種疏離、寂寥感上的作祟，開始探索一連串的文化與個人之間的聯繫和衝擊，在與同學一起發表的「WEMIX-west, east, memory, identity, xperience」中，便是這創作旅程之起點。 2008年三月在非常廟藝文空間的「白日夢」是郭芃君在台灣首次個展，並在同一時間於斯依畫廊辦個展「距離」，將一系列探討時間與空間的作品《白日夢》、《平行線》、《打開˙看見》做為處女秀，一開始即展現了藝術家和環境的互動，產生出現實與夢境之中強烈的情感波動。同年七月在台灣國際視覺藝術中心的個展「單」展出《走在一個下雨的夜晚》，呈現出她在異鄉時所感受到的孤獨與衝擊。 2009年六月在豆皮文藝咖啡館個展「地方」中的《什麼很台灣》、《色票》、《地方－台南》等系列作品裡，開始透露出與以往不同的風格和色彩，文化所產生的各種感受一直是郭芃君關注的題目，而漸漸昇華成對於台灣文化與色彩之間關係的研究，這樣概念延續到2010年的創作，新添加了《畫我們的色彩》，以自己的方式詮釋她心目中的台灣，耀眼的、繽紛的、有些嘈雜但卻可愛的台灣。在《旋律˙色彩》和《生活空間的色彩旅程》中，郭芃君承襲了之前《地方》和《畫我們的色彩》的概念，卻突破了先前作品的空間感與色彩的使用，不同於先前較隨性的生活空間紀錄，《旋律．色彩》及《生活空間裡的色彩旅程》畫了較多的建築或街景，在繪畫上則參考了敦煌壁畫以及台灣早期的膠彩畫的畫法，更著重於色彩搭配的本身，《旋律．色彩》主要還是依著色票的顏色搭配在使用色彩；《生活空間裡的色彩旅程》則將從色票得到的色彩配色關係內化，更加自由的使用各種色彩來堆砌整個畫面。另外在空間感上而言，在《旋律˙色彩》中可以看到從較小較窄的視野中呈現出更細緻而微妙的空間感；《生活空間的色彩旅程》則利用寬視野的方式呈現出一系列的街景文化，平直與蜿蜒兩種空間感各呈現出有別於以往的風格。 郭芃君也分別以不同的切入點來摸索或詮釋不同美學，其中更欲嘗試探索生活美學的可能性,，一種面對自我與周遭反思性的對話，從生命中長成，最終也將回歸至生活中裡的美，與大眾更近距離接觸的美學。 郭芃君的作品以各種形式呈現，卻都以文化感受為內涵，欲給予作品靈魂和熱情，其創作觀點的特質就是，既能進入她想要瞭解的空間，也能拉開一個距離去紀錄這個空間，而透過這些作品，她不但企圖正確呈現出臺灣這個地方的顏色經驗，也賦予文化認同一個充滿情感的視覺審美意涵。對於郭芃君和其作品欣賞者而言，每次的創作都像一場旅程，在旅程的開始前是一連串的研究和探索，而其結束是感動，也是另一段旅程的開始。無論在天與地的模糊界線中，或是一排一排緊緊依偎的小房子中，我們都可以看到一個對於藝術和人生有著無限想像的女孩，怎麼詮釋內心深處對於土地的認知和愛戀。 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ariel, Peng-chun Kuo Ariel Kuo, born in 1985, Taipei, grow up with the passion and dream of to be an artist. She went to Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design for graphics design after graduated from high school, and established Ariel Kuo Art Studio in Tainan since she get back to Taiwan. This slow paced, historical ancient capital fascinated Kuo, inspire her to think and create, which are related to our culture but still very unique. Her philosophy of art and creation started with a feeling of distance of culture, also lonesome, when she was study in London. So Kuo began to explore the relationship of a person to whom culture, then display her efforts with classmates in exhibition “WEMIX-west, east, memory, identity, xperience”. Ariel Kuo’s first solo exhibition “Day Dream” held at VT Art Salon, Taipei, in March, 2008. As the same time, she was holding another solo exhibition “Distant” at Gallery 41. These works all central in discussing time and space, reveling the relation between artist and whom surroundings, showing the emotion both in dream and reality. Same year in July, another solo exhibition “Single” took place at Taiwan International Visual Art Center, displaying multimedia “Walking at a Rainy Night”, present her loneliness and conflict in a foreign land. June, 2009, “How's Taiwan like?”, “Color Chart” and “Place-Tainan” series works display at DogPig Art Café, Kaohsiung, reveling different color using and style as before. Still, the feeling arise from culture is Kuo’s main concern, but rose to a level to study and discuss color versus Taiwan culture. The idea of analyzing the relationship of color and culture extend to her 2010’s creation, addition to series work “Paint ours color”, which interprets the Taiwan in her mind, glowing, colorful, lovely yet a little bit noisy. In “Concerto” and “Journey of the colors”, Ariel Kuo uses the same concept in “Place-Tainan” and “Paint ours color”, nevertheless, topping previous work in senses of space and color. “Concerto” and “Journey of the colors” depict more about buildings also streets then others, which is focus on everyday life and it’s surrounding. Furthermore, Kuo was inspire by the techniques of Dunhuang Caves’ paintings and Taiwan early period’s glue-pigment paintings. Ariel Kuo still matching colors in “Concerto” that discover in “Color Chart”. In “Journey of the colors”, she developed those colors in “Color Chart” to another level, and create with these color freely. In Addition, “Concerto” presents more detailed in a smaller, narrower viewing angle. But in “Journey of the colors”, Kuo present a series of street line in a rather spacious view, both simple and complicate ways of style. Ariel Kuo’s works come out in various forms, yet all central in experiences of culture, focus on giving her work soul and passion. Her creations have a unique quality, which is viewers can easily understand her thoughts, also to appreciate it in distant, travel with her in the mind of color. To Ariel Kuo or her audience, every piece of work is a journey, there are surprising and affecting. And every journey’s end is another’s beginning.
